Jasotha Sanmugarajah
Associate Professor Jasotha Sanmugarajah has more than 28 years of experience in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology and is deeply passionate about quality clinical care, clinical education, physician training and clinical research. Her educational qualifications include MBBS (Hons) and MD (New York). She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology and the RACP in medical oncology Having completed her MBBS and 3 years of post internship training in Sri Lanka, Jasotha moved to New York City in 1992 where her specialist training was undertaken. She completed internal medicine and hematology training in the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation hospitals and her medical oncology training at Lenox Hill Hospital, a teaching affiliate of New York University. On completion of training Jasotha joined the faculty at the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine where she rose to become an Associate Professor of Medicine and the teaching lead of hematology/oncology, and a Consultant medical oncologist at the University Hospital of Brooklyn and the Kings County Medical Center of Brooklyn. Her training and work experience were in large and busy teaching hospitals with a catchment area of more than 2 million. Jasotha re-located to the Gold Coast in March 2009 and currently she is the Director of Medical Oncology at Gold Coast University Hospital QLD.. Currently she holds an academic title as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Griffith School of Medicine and is actively involved in medical student training, teaching and lecturing
