Carolyn Der Vartanian

Carolyn Der Vartanian is Acting Director, National Cancer Control at Cancer Australia. Cancer Australia is the Australian Government's national cancer agency that aims to reduce the impact of cancer, address disparities and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer by leading, coordinating national, evidence-based interventions across the continuum of care. Carolyn has worked in the Australian health care sector for 20 years at NSW Health and in the Australian Government. She has a Master of Management and a keen interest in digital health which she has fostered through additional courses. At Cancer Australia, Carolyn has led programs of work in service development, some of which include the evaluation of new models of care and its translation to clinical practice; the development of cancer control indicators for reporting on the National Cancer Control Indicators (NCCI) website and; a program of work to inform and support the cancer community during the COVID-19 pandemic including communication to clinicians and consumers on implications of the COVID-19 vaccines for people with cancer. Carolyn is also leading a new program of work on the uptake of telehealth in cancer care and cancer clinical trials during the COVID-19 pandemic.
